When they get along...

I find that the times my children get along are so few and far between. On the occasions that they do I feel so good that I cannot help but to smile. The giggling, laughing, shrieks and talking is such a wonderful thing to hear from the two little ones who fill my heart. I only wish it happened more often!

♥ Dear Daughter ♥

Yesterday we saw a show of a mildly displayed childbirth on the television. It was after the show you had asked me if it hurt to have a baby. I was honest with you, as I hope to always be.

Yes, it does hurt to have a baby. It hurts when delivering and bringing a child into the world, it hurts to see your baby get a bruise, or to head dive into a coffee table from the back of the couch because they thought it would be fun to try and fly. It hurts to know your child is sick and you can do nothing to take away the pain. It hurts when your child cannot breathe, because it takes away your breath as well. It hurts to see your child grow more independent and need you less, and it hurts to discipline them when they do something wrong. Regardless as to all the hurt a child causes, I would rather have all that hurt than to have never experienced the knowledge of being a mother.

You told me that you don't ever want to have a baby. I hope you some day change your mind. I couldn't imagine my life without you. What would my life be without the joy you bring? You teach me like no one else could. To see your fascination, your intelligence, your excitement, all the little things we take advantage of in our lives. To show me the love that such a little heart can give. The non-judgmental child that can see beautiful things in what others would not find.

For all the pain you've brought me, the beauty and love and compassion is of far more value. The pain is nothing compared to the thought of never knowing. There are no words to completely describe all the wonders of being a mother.

Always you are in my heart!

I Want to Thank You

Seven years ago today,
I brought forth life
The day I learned what true love meant

One year ago today,
You were taken
The day I truly understood the meaning of loss

How incredibly ironic
The importance of one day!

You made my life possible
I grew inside your womb

Though our road was full of bumps
Lessons were learned
I was taught
Life went on

On the date I became a mother
Was the date that I lost mine
The memories will not vanish
The hurt, the loss, the love does not end
A piece of me gone

I still feel pain
I still feel sorrow
I feel regret and I feel shame
Words should have come sooner
Time should have healed quicker!

The questions will always stand
What if?
What if you battled?
What if I pushed?
What if time was on our side?

But the lessons were taught
And I have learned
Your life will not be forgotten
Your presence will be missed

So, thank you!
For teaching me of love
Of sorrow
Of pain!

Simple joys of motherhood

I am a mother
what a joyous thing to be
to hear your child laugh
to see your child smile.
I am a mother
comforting their tears
holding them until their sorrow disappears.
I am a mother
what a wonderful thing to be
to see your child learn
to show you life again.
I am a mother
they are my teachers
through them I learn
little things through their small eyes.
I am a mother
they are my heroes
who show me love throughout my life.
I am a mother
they are my children
I embrace them while they sleep
to smell their hair
to hold them tight.
I am their mother
a cherished thought
I'll never be alone
even if I'm single my whole life.
I am a mother
my reason for breathing
my reason for being
every day and every night.
