What is it about little boys???

My son just turned five and for as long as he could run, his feet just have not been able to keep up with the rest of him. Needless to say it is very often that he face plants into the ground. Fortunatly he is usually on grass or able to place his hands in front of him before his head smacks down. However, it is not uncommon that when he is running on rocks or pavement that his hands as well are slow to come out ahead and his face takes a beating from the ground beneath him.

Currently this little guy has bruises up and down his legs from ice skating last weekend, he also has a bump on the back of his head which he obtained from his fathers house while sitting (probably not correctly) in a chair... end result, his head and the wall met. His face bares the battle scars from a recent bout of pavement after his baptism yesterday when once again... his legs and arms were just too slow for the rest of his body. He also has two spider bites from his fathers visit on his upper leg... and what we assume is a spider bite on his ear. The ear, looks quite interesting indeed and after todays visit to the doctors... has required antibiotics to correct the problem as it is twice swollen.

He lives without fear of anything... take the boy to the beach, and while he cannot swim, he will continue to run out into the lake. I have to run after so that he does not drown. Give him a tree and he will climb it even with the smallest/weakest branches without fear.

I feel compelled to ask others who are mothers and fathers of little boys... how do you do it?
